Five Principles In Three Postures
Discussion - Attention
Pay attention to internal physical sensations and feelings inside your body. As you adopt each posture notice what happens to your muscles, tendons and fascia, your somatic experience. Traditional teaching states that the yang meridians on the outside of the arms and legs are activated during an expanding movement. The yin meridians on the inside of the arms and legs are activated during a contracting movement. So let's interpret Chi and meridians as internal sensations or feelings. Pay attention to these sensations and feelings, adjust your posture, the way you move during an expanding or contracting movement and adjust them to get your best inside or outside arm / leg sensation and feeling.
…….. This program of learning explores five key principles of Tai Chi in the sequence of postures 'grasp the sparrows tail', 'throw down' and 'double handed push'.
Copy the sequence of posture and movement using the Tai Chi video or images. Never do anything that is uncomfortable. After uncomfortable comes tension ruining your practice. After tension comes discomfort. After discomfort comes injury.
